About me

My name is Pamela Muñoz, I am General Health Psychologist with dual qualifications in Chile and Spain.

Scholarship number: BIO5338

My background in psychology:

Some of the areas I have studied include:

  • Master's in General Health Psychology. University of Deusto.
  • Affirmative Therapy for the LGTBQIA+ Community. Spanish Association of Health Psychology.
  • Psychoanalysis and Gender. Coordinated by Dr. Débora Táger.
  • Systemic and Family Psychotherapy. University of Chile.
  • Intervention in Depression and Other Mood Disorders. Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
  • Relational psychoanalisis. University of los Andes.

I have also completed various courses to deepen my knowledge on these and other topics I work with, such as addictions with and without substances, eating disorders, trans-feminism, and grief.

Additionally, due to the professional responsibility my work entails, I regularly participate in supervision sessions with other professionals to enrich my experience and knowledge, ensuring high-quality care for my patients.

My professional experience

Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of both healthcare and social settings, providing support to diverse communities.

In Chile, I began my professional journey at a day center for people with addictions to alcohol and drugs, who lived in contexts of high social vulnerability. I later worked at an outpatient clinic, providing mental health care to children, adolescents, and adults.

During this time, I actively participated in addiction programs and interventions with at-risk minors and families. I also worked as part of a team focused on couples therapy.

After moving to Bilbao, I expanded my experience by working at an organization supporting homeless individuals, as well as at a psychological center focused on working with women and the LGTBIQA+ community. I also collaborated with a center specializing in non-substance addictions.

In 2023, I decided to launch my own professional project, with the aim of continuing to support individuals, families, and the diverse communities I have worked with throughout my professional journey.

In the therapy space

I view therapy as a safe space, built on respect and free of judgment, where mutual commitment and effort are key.

As you have seen, I have primarily trained in a systemic approach, but what does that mean? It means that I understand you, your emotions, and what brings you to therapy on an individual level, but also in relation to the context and environment to which you belong.

We are defined both by our inner world and the outer world we are part of and constantly interact with. Your inner world consists of how you think and describe yourself, your self-concept, self-esteem, your thoughts, and emotions. Your outer world consists of your work or studies, the activities you engage in, how you live, your interests, the people around you, how you interact with all of this, and how it influences who you are.

What to expect from therapy

How long will I be in therapy?

My goal is to accompany you on your journey toward psychological well-being. Since each person is unique, the duration of therapy may vary. Some processes may be brief, while others could take longer, depending on your individual needs and the pace required to achieve your goals.

How does therapy work?
  1. First session: We will start with an initial meeting to get to know each other, where you can share what has brought you to seek therapy.
  2. Therapy development: After that first session, we will dive deeper into your situation and the aspects you want to address in therapy, so we can begin working on them together.
  3. End of therapy: As we progress, we will work toward your therapeutic goals. Once we feel you have reached those goals, we will have a conversation about the possibility of concluding therapy.

Flexibility in Therapy:
Some people prefer to continue therapy even after reaching their goals, using it as an ongoing space for personal growth beyond resolving a specific issue. I am here to adapt to your needs and preferences.
